As Chairman of the Board of the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance (PRAA), I have seen first hand how our music instruction programs reach over 15,000 children in Chicago's communities and public schools. PRAA makes a tangible difference in these children's education and our close ties with Puerto Rico-based cultural organizations, like the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña and the Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Puerto Rico y el Caribe allow us to sponsor up-and-coming performers, both in good times and in times of crisis. For over 20 years, PRAA holds the annual National Cuatro Festival and various other events that exalt the beauty, richness, and diversity of Puerto Rican culture, both in the continental U.S. and our beloved Isla del Encanto.
