As 2023 draws to a close, we would like to thank you for your support during this year! Whether you served as a volunteer, attended an event, or were part of our donor community we appreciate you standing with us! Our educational programs, exhibitions, performances and events remain because of your participation and investments in helping us continue our mission.
This year marks 25 years that the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance (PRAA) has evolved from a humble organization into a thriving pillar of arts and culture for more than 30,000 annually in the City of Chicago. WE have been steadfastly committed to nurturing the growth of artists and musicians both locally and internationally while also leading our students to discover their own artistic talents. Our school arts programs now encompass 10 Chicago Public Schools across the city.
So far, our year has been nothing short of extraordinary. Noche Caribeña, conducted in partnership with Navy Pier, drew over a twelve hundred participants uniting countless salsa and merengue enthusiasts.’ "Solo Pueblo, Mexico Y Puerto Rico,” in collaboration with Cuerdas Clasicas, ArfriCaribe, the Chicago Philharmonic and the Mexican Folkloric Dance Company was one of the most well-attended events in recent memory. This unique, culturally rich, event brought more than 7,000 to Millennium Park’s Pritzker Pavilion stage to honor and celebrated the vibrancy of Puerto Rican and Mexican culture.
The Desde Mi Barrio and Baila Conmigo concert series offered local artists a platform to share their talents and the community access to live culturally rich music. The PRAA Center gallery featured our student’s work “Colonial Portraits, Inc., a reproduction of portraits that define the face and identity of the Puerto Rican people. These works are framed and contextualized by images of natural disasters that in turn brought people together. The 25th Annual National Cuatro Festival “Tres Mujeres, Tres Estrellas” captivated more than 1,100 audience members, at the Harris Theater ,with performances by women Cuatristas. Most of this, has been brought to you, our audience, at “no cost” or for a small donation.
